Obituary

CORINNA - Alden Seamans, 82, husband of Joanne Seamans, died July 19, 2021 from complications of a fractured neck. He was born September 11, 1938, a son of Hollis and Margaret (Fogg) Seamans. He graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1956. Alden moved to CT in the sixties to start his own tree and landscaping business, and later became a septic system installer. After retirement he returned to Maine. His favorite hobbies were tag sales, flea markets and old cars. He loved junk. Alden attended the Faith Bible Church in Plainville, CT for several years and volunteered his excavating services when the church added a new fellowship hall. He later attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Exeter. He developed dementia but was still functioning independently when he had his fall. He was a rugged, sometimes coarse man, but had a soft spot for those less fortunate. He was a hard worker, second amendment supporter, non-conformist and patriot. Besides his devoted wife, he is survived by 3 daughters, Debbie (Wayne) Bell of Canada, Lynne (Rob) Merrill of Garland, Brigitte (Ryan) Miner of Canton, CT; one son, Brett (Andrea) Seamans of New York; 2 brothers, Richard (Morita) of Dexter and David (Sue) of Vermont; one stepson, Stephen Eldridge; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters in law, Frances Seamans and Carol Seamans; several nieces and nephews; and his dog Fyrn. He was predeceased by brothers, Robert, Shirley, Darrel, and Trueman; sisters Phyllis Godreau, Jean Mountain, and Faye Parker; a nephew Michael Seamans and brother in law Archie Parker. There are no calling hours. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday, August 7th, at the Higgins Cemetery, Bowden Road, Corinna, with the Rev. Jim Caron officiating. The family thanks first responders Corinth Fire Department and Maine Forest Rangers for airlifting Alden out of the woods; and the EMMC ICU staff for their care. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Bible Church, P. O. Box 72, Plainville, CT 06062. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
