Obituary

CORINNA - Allan "Jim" Palmer, 70, died February 2, 2021 at a Portland hospital. He was born March 17, 1950 in Willimantic, CT, a son of Raymond and Virginia (Hunt) Palmer. Allan received an Associate's degree and served in the Army in Vietnam as a combat engineer receiving many medals including the Purple Heart. His military career ended with a medical discharge in 1979. That same year the family moved from El Paso, Texas to Corinna. Allan was a self employed singer-songwriter. His stage name was Country Jim Palmer. He pursued this career for a number of years and received many awards. He is survived by his wife Donna of Corinna; 2 twin sons, Henry of Dexter and Donald of Pittsfield; a daughter Christina and husband Rick of Old Town; 2 brothers, Raymond, Jr. of West Virginia and Jon of Bakerfield, CA; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; as well as his Uncle Ellis Hunt of CT. Friends may call from 2-4 P.M. Friday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where all Covid restrictions will be observed. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, February 6th, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Main Street, Palmyra, with the Rev. Laura White officiating. A military committal service will be conducted at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta in the spring.
