Allen Manzer Turner Obituary (1929

AUGUSTA & PLYMOUTH - Allen Manzer Turner, 88, died December 11, 2017 after a long illness. He was born November 21, 1929 in Corinna, a son of Manzer and Rachel (Tibbetts) Turner. He graduated from Corinna Union Academy, Class of 1948. Allen married Dorothy Austin from Pittsfield on December 22, 1951. He worked at the U. S. Naval Ordinance Laboratory in Silver Springs, Maryland. After returning to Maine, he worked for Hannaford Brothers for many years and retired from the Maine State Department of Agriculture in Augusta in 1998. He was a charter member of the former Corinna Lions Club and was a member of the Corinna United Methodist Church and the South Street United Methodist Church in Gorham. Allen and Dot thoroughly enjoyed many years at their summer cottage on Gray Pond in Plymouth. Allen is survived by his daughter in law Cyndi Turner and a special family friend Joan Burke; as well as many dear friends, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife on June 27, 2017; their son Gary on April 7, 2016; and his 5 sisters, Marie Birckhead, Virginia Wintle, Ruth Dunham, Clara "Kelly" Ready, and Eleanor Weeks. Spring committal services will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Newport. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
