CAMBRIDGE - Alston Cookson, Sr., 84, died June 25, 2018 at his Cambridge residence. He was born May 31, 1934 in Sangerville, a son of George and Annie (Knights) Cookson. He served in the U. S. Army between the Korean and Vietnam Wars working in a motor pool. He worked in the woods cutting pulp with his brothers in his younger years, worked in area woolen mills, shoe shops and foundries, retiring from Hardwood Products in Guilford.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising bees, working on his riding lawn mower and especially his grandchildren. They were his life. Alston will also be remembered for having a green thumb with his outstanding gardens. His camp fire stories will always be remembered.

He is survived by 2 sons, Alston "Rusty" Cookson, Jr., and wife Robin, Keith and wife April Cookson, all of Cambridge; 2 grandchildren, Nathan Cookson of NC and Kaitlin Cookson of Benton; his sisters and brothers in law, Merle and Violet Shields of Mercer, Lyman and Carol Snow of Wayne and Pat Cookson of CT.

Graveside committal services will be held at 11 A.M. Monday, July 2nd, at Cambridge Memorial Garden. Memorial donations may be made to the Beacon Hospice, 289 State Street, Suite B, Bangor, ME 04401. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
