Barbara A.
Cloutier
Feb 17, 1933 — Jun 23, 2026
Barbara Ann (Brockway) Cloutier
Barbara Ann (Brockway) Cloutier passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Barbara was born on February 17, 1933, in Orono, Maine, to Dana and Vivian (LeClair) Brockway. On May 6, 1955, she married Gerald “Bill” Cloutier at the Corinna United Methodist Church, followed by a reception hosted by Ginny and Roland Dorman.
Barbara grew up in Exeter, Maine, and attended local schools. She graduated from Corinna Union Academy with the Class of 1949 and was one of the last two surviving members of her class. In 1965, she attended Everett Junior College in Everett, Washington, and later earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Husson College.
Throughout her life, Barbara held a variety of jobs. From picking raspberries and pulling kale to operating a clear-cut saw in the woods, she was never afraid of hard work. She also babysat for numerous families, including the Smith family of Exeter, the Clavarie family of Exeter, and the Varnum family of Dover-Foxcroft. Barbara worked as a grocery clerk for George Moore in Corinna, at Zander’s in Illinois, and at Albertsons in Washington State.
Her greatest professional joy, however, was teaching Business Education at Nokomis Regional High School, where she inspired students for 16 years. Teaching was more than a career—it was her passion.
Barbara was a devoted member of several organizations, including Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG), where she was recently recognized for 40 years of membership, the National Education Association (NEA), Maine State Retirement, Penobscot Retired Teachers Association, and the Sebasticook Lake Association.
Barbara is survived by her son, Ryan Cloutier and his wife, Tracy; their children, Jake Cloutier of Montana, Jessica Dillon and her husband, Seth, and Joseph Cloutier and his fiancée, Taylor Gallway. She is also survived by her daughter, Jeri Lovley; Jeri’s children, Lauren Lancaster and children Skylar and Chance; Taylor Everett and her husband, Jeremy, and their children, Chloe and Liam; and Meaghan Foster and her husband, Matt, and their children, Austin, Brent, and Charlotte. Barbara is further survived by her son-in-law, Scott Lovley; her sister, Doris Young of Bangor; and her sister, Phyllis Clukey of Spring Hill, Florida.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill; her sister, Beverly; and her brothers, Dana Jr., Donald, and Milton.
Although Barbara was 93 years old, she continued to maintain her driver’s license and drove daily. She enjoyed challenging crossword puzzles, 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzles, reading a good book, and spending afternoons shopping and having lunch with her dear friend, Mary Turner.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 1, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main Street, Newport, Maine. Family and friends are invited to gather immediately following the visiting hours at the home of her son, Ryan, at 606 Exeter Road, Corinna. Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nokomis Field Hockey Team. Checks should be payable to “Nokomis Field Hockey” and mailed to 291 Williams Road, Newport, ME 04953.
