Dexter – Barbara Deane McKenney, 73, passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband, Perry, by her side on September 23, 2026. Barbara was born in Dexter on February 22, 1953, the eldest daughter of Douglas and Gladys (White) Lombard.

In 1969 she married the love of her life Perry McKenney. She was a devoted mother to her children Perry “Punka” McKenney II and Jodi Carr.

Barbara worked many years at Guilford Industries and Pride Manufacturing. She was an avid outdoors woman and loved horseback riding, hunting, and fishing. She enjoyed many years farming alongside Perry.

Barbara was witty and always cracking a joke. If she loved you, you knew it. And if she didn’t, you knew that as well.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Perry, who care for her around the clock the last year of her life. Her son Punka and Tori of Dexter; her daughter Jodi and Jason Carr of Dexter; her grandchildren Destiny Tibbetts of Dexter; Trevor and Sarah Tibbetts of Cambridge; David and Emily McKenney of Corinna, and Breanna Tibbetts/Devan Hunter of Garland; 10 great-grandchildren, Brookie and Waylon Gudroe, Marcus, Danica, Hod, Beecher, and Aurelia Tibbetts, Archer Paxton, and Elsey-Lyn Hunter; her sisters Darlene Lombard, Dawn Cardwell; her brother Calvin Lombard; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family; and special friends Loretta Norsworthy and Sarah Lessner.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents Doug and Gladys; her brother Danny; and her sister Tammi.

The family would like to thank Chelsea Nelson, Sarah Lessner, and Destiny Tibbetts for their dedication and care of Barbara.

A Graveside Committal will be held at 12:00pm on October 11, 2026 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, 3 Bryant Rd, Dexter, ME 04930. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the Dexter VFW Hall, 20 Cedar St, Dexter, ME 04930.
