Obituary

CORINNA & SKOWHEGAN - Benton Charles McGinnis passed away on April 21, 2023 at the age of 62 from complications of MS. His sisters Mary and Susan as well as his niece Donna were by his side. Born on March 14, 1961 in Dexter, Ben was the youngest of five children born to James "JR" and Edith (Evans) McGinnis. Ben went to school in Detroit. He worked in local cedar mills and cut firewood. He also worked at a local farm implement dealer where he travelled around the area delivering tractors and repairing and changing heavy equipment tires. He then decided he wanted to be his own boss and opened a small garage at his home which he operated until his illness prevented him from working anymore. He enjoyed building and racing stock cars with family and friends. He was a huge fan of his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He liked riding snowmobiles in his younger years. He loved his cat Mischief. He is survived by his sister Mary Tuttle of Corinna, brother James and wife Marj of Detroit, sister Susie and husband Bryant Bourgoin of Winslow; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Janis and a niece Deanna. Burial will be at Morses Corner Cemetery in Corinna at a later date. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Many thanks to Woodlawn Rehab and Nursing Home where Ben made many friends during his years there; and a thank you to Redington Fairview General Hospital for their care of him during his numerous stays with them. Donations may be made to the MS Society or to your local Humane Society.
