It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Betty F. Bolton, who left us on December 2nd, 2024. Born to Bradley and Emily Fowler on June 20th, 1939, in Norwich, CT.
Betty was a loving soul who found joy in the simple things. She was a devoted mother, a thoughtful friend, and the glue that held her family together. As a native of Norwich, she spent her early years in Connecticut before moving to Maine in 1976. Throughout her life, Betty worked tirelessly in various roles, including at a woolen mill and building stereos. Despite the demanding nature of her work, her spirit remained unbroken. In fact, her resilience often shone through in her hobbies, where she displayed remarkable talent as a seamstress honoring her native heritage and great cook. In the words of Helen Keller, "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved." Betty was the epitome of this strength, her life a testament to her unwavering determination and loving spirit.
Betty's generous heart always put others first. When her husband fell ill, she cared for him in her own home. Later, she did the same for her mother. In turn, her son, Richard Jr., honored her generosity by caring for her in her final days. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Bradley and Emily Fowler; her husband Richard Sr.; son Bradley Sr.; her brothers, Eddie Fowler, Sonny Fowler, Nate Fowler and her sister, Lydia Woznicki. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Lee Bolton; son, Richard Bolton Jr.; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Solomon-Mullin, Joseph Solomon, Betty Lynn Wipple, Christina Rideout, Hannah Billings, Marie Kuntz and Bradley Bolton Jr.; 15 great grandchildren; her brothers, Dale Fowler and Billy Fowler and many nieces and nephews.
Betty's life was a tapestry of labor and love. She gave us all an example of how to live with grace, resilience, and an unyielding love for family. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. As we remember Betty, we are reminded of a quote, "Family is not an important thing. It's everything."
A graveside burial will be held on May 19th, 2025, at 2pm at Sawyer Cemetery in Plymouth, Maine.
We invite all who knew and loved Betty to share their memories and upload photos to her memorial page. Let us remember her life and celebrate the love she brought into this world.
