Obituary

CORINNA - Beulah Mae Walker, 93, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2022 at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home with family at her side. She was born June 18, 1929 in Corinna, to Harry and Luetta (Nichols) Bowden. Beulah's life was defined by her love and devotion to Christ and her family. After raising five children of her own, she found joy in her grandchildren and was a fixture on the sidelines of all their sporting events, camera in hand. Puttering up on her lime green moped, kerchief in her hair, everyone knew "Grammie Beulah," who became a beloved figure in the town of Dexter and surrounding areas. She revered nature and the outdoors and saw in them the glory of God's hand. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter. A devoted life-long Red Sox fan, she cheered for them through all the lean years and was thrilled to see their World Series curse broken in 2004, as well as their further success over the next 15 years. Perhaps it was the same stubbornness that kept her a fan, that guided her relentless support of those she loved, regardless of their mistakes or faults. Her arms and her door were always open, and more often than not, she would be sure you ate something before you left. A great many family and friends will miss her legendary popcorn, donuts and peanut butter bars, but what will be missed most of all, is the look of joy on her face every time a loved one walked in the room. 93 years of memories are not enough, but we are forever grateful for the enduring love and lessons she left behind. Beulah is survived by her loving family; brothers, Edward and Rodney Bowden; three special sisters-in-law, Mary Bowden, Pearl Bowden and Rosalie "Posey" Walker; children, Bobby Walker and wife Lois of St. Albans, Sheila Walker of Corinna, Cindy Walker of Dexter, Susie Wilbur of Corinna, Ed Walker and wife Charlann of Dexter; grandchildren, Lisa Walker and partner Steve Hughes, Rob Walker and wife Kathy, Tracy Sawyer and husband Tim, Greg Wilbur, Eric Gustin, Laurie Robichaud and husband Aaron, Matthew Walker and wife Courtney; as well as 12 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde A. Walker, Jr.; sister, Nellie Bowden; brothers, Elmer and Merrill Bowden; and granddaughter, Amy (Walker) Nolan. A private graveside service will be held at Higgins Cemetery, Corinna. A memorial gathering to celebrate Beulah's life will be open for all at noon on Saturday, July 30th, at the home of Charlotte and Tom Davis, Bowden Road, Corinna. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal. Those wishing can donate in her memory to the American Diabetes Association at https://diabetes.org.
