Carolyn M. Penney PITTSFIELD – Carolyn May (Dunphy) Penney, 89, died December 27, 2023 at a Pittsfield hospital surrounded by her family. She was born August 26, 1934 in Perham, a daughter of Ralph and Nettie (Merrill) Dunphy. She graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Class of 1953. Carolyn worked at the Edwards Company, San Antonio Shoe, Lovley's Motel, Penney Pincher Discount Store and Dunkin Donuts. She attended the Charleston Pentecostal Church for 25 years, Deeper Life Assembly, and was a member of the Solid Rock Church of God, both of Pittsfield. She is survived by her children, Diane Barrettt of Florida and Dale Penney of Alaska; a sister, Jacquelyn and husband Bernard Williams of Pittsfield; 8 grandchildren, Daniel Chamberlain, Dominic and wife Sandy Chamberlain, Amanda and husband Frank Turner III, Seth Penney, Richard and wife Jordan Barrett, Matthew Barrett and Caroline Van Ness, Dylan and wife Peyton Penney and David Penney II; ; 11 great grandchildren, Makaela, Kierstin, Cheyenne, Aryanna, Logan, Ryleigh, Brayden, Brantley, Braxton, Addalyn, and Wes; a great great grandson Karlyle; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son David; 6 brothers, Samuel, Charles, Dale, Augustus, Ralph, and Wallace Dunphy; and 3 sisters, Wilma Reynolds, Olive Greene and Julie Goddard. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held in the spring at the family lot, Pittsfield Village Cemetery.
