SANGERVILLE- Clarence Bell, 96, passed away March 4, 2012, at Dexter Health Care, surrounded by his loving family.

He was a longtime resident of North Andover, MA, until he moved to Maine to live with his son, Richard and his family.

He was born November 22, 1915, in Lawrence, MA son of Edwin and Hannah (Predeau) Bell. He graduated from Lawrence High School, class of 1934. He worked in North Andover as manager of the Vermont Tea & Butter Store for many years. He was a projectionist at area theaters and drive-ins. He also worked for the Rockingham Thoroughbred Racing Association at Rockingham Park, in Salem, NH, developing and processing film for horse racing. He was the secretary for the Projectionists Union for many years. He enjoyed gardening and working outdoors. He was an avid bowler, competing in local bowling leagues.

In 1943 he was drafted into the Army and was honorably discharged after being injured while on maneuvers, and spent six months in the hospital.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Arlene May (McCormack) Bell, and his second wife, Phyllis Joyce (Hanson) Bell.

He is survived by a son, Richard Bell and his wife, Patricia (Baril) Bell of Sangerville; grandchildren, Kenneth Bell and his wife, Angel, Susan Bell McAvoy, and her husband, Paul, Matthew Bell and his wife, Amanda all of Sangerville; great grandchildren, Derek Bell, Justin Bell, Crystal Bell and Lindsay McAvoy; great great grandchildren, Allaynah Rolfe, and Connor Bell; a stepdaughter, Joyce (Hanson) Kondry, and her husband, Robert of Salem, NH; several step-grandchildren, and step great grandchildren; a nephew, Leon Berry and his wife, Nancy and family, and a niece, Florence Bowden and her husband, Harry and family.

A graveside service with military honors, will be held later in the spring at the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover, MA.
