Dexter – Clyde George Crowell passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 98 proud years of age. He was born on Saturday, July 21, 1928 to Earl L and Clara-Belle (Sawtelle) Crowell on the family farm in Corinna where he worked and lived until 1965. 

Clyde graduated from N.H. Fay in 1946. In addition to running the family farm, he worked for Dexter Shoe for 35 years in the leather room until retirement in 1993. He served in the Air Force during the Korean war as an airplane mechanic.

Clyde married the love of his life, Marie (Batchelder) Crowell on November 12, 1955. They were married for seventy years. They had a house full with their four children Jeff, Lynne, Kent, and Kathy.

Clyde kept the family fed with a large garden, a beef critter, and 100 chickens for eggs and meat. Food was never a problem. The problem was to get him to relax sometimes. He tried to teach his kids to fish, swim, do cartwheels, yodel, drive, work hard, and enjoy what life had to offer. Not all the teaching was successful but he tried!

In his early years he had an Indian motorcycle and a Willys Jeep. And in his 50’s he and Marie started riding a motorcycle, again. He was only 80 when he and Marie got into Jeeping again. He last drove it 11 days before passing. Clyde and Marie spent many years with their camper at the Happy Horseshoe Campground. They made many friends and they enjoyed the Saturday night bean supper. They participated in the many events that took place there from dressing like Sonny and Cher for Halloween to serving food for the suppers.

Clyde was predeceased by his wife Marie on December 7, 2025, his sisters Helen Black and Evelyn Golden, brothers-in-law Wendall Golden, Harry Black, Raymond Batchelder, Parker Swett. 

Clyde is survived by his children Jeff, Lynne and Les Fillmore, Kent and Nancy Crowell, Kathy and Jay Bearce, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, his sister Earlene Black; his brother-in-law Harold and Sue Batchelder; his sisters-in-law Linda Batchelder and Mabel Olson.

As per his wishes there will be a private burial with family.
