Obituary

NEWPORT--Curtis Richard Kurt, 78, died March 27, 2020. He was born July 9, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Ernest and Dorothy (Martin) Kurt. He attended P.S. 75 and P.S. 74 schools in New York. The family moved to Palmyra in 1954, where he attended Palmyra Elementary School and graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield. Curtis studied at the Northwestern School of Conservation in California, Cornell University in New York and the Maine Military Academy. He graduated from the Northeastern School of Dental Lab Technology in Portland. Eventually he started his military career by taking classes at the United States Air Force Academy in Texas. He held a leadership position in Security Police and Law Enforcement. He retired after 24 years of military service in the United States Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant. He is survived by his daughter Stacey Kurt Donaldson and husband Rick; son Michael Kurt and wife Trisha; granddaughter Abbigail Donaldson Pelkey and husband Billy; grandsons Mathew Thornton and wife Whitney, Damian and Brendan Donaldson, and Donovan and Braden Kurt; four great grandchildren, Natalie, William, Wyatt, and Addisyn. He was predeceased by his parents and wife Sylvia Moore Kurt. There will be no funeral at this time. Private graveside services for the immediate family will be held in the spring at Palmyra Village Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
