CORINNA - Cynthia Lee Coates, 59, died unexpectedly November 28, 2018 at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born January 26, 1959 in Dexter, a daughter of Eugene and Verna (Smith) Hand.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Heather and husband Scott Elderkin, Chelsea Coates and significant other, Kevin DuMont, all of Newport; Ashley and husband Justin Metivier of Maryland, Sarah Coates and significant other, Kevin McNally of New Hampshire; 2 brothers, Barry Hand of Etna, and Michael Hand of Bangor; her significant other, Dennis Hewins of Corinna; 10 grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; several nieces and nephews, and her "favorite", her dog Toby.

She was predeceased by her husband, Chief Frederick W. "Bill" Coates, and her brother Gary Hand, Sr.

Spring burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Newport. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
