STETSON--Darrell Howard Eells, 84, died January 4, 2020 at his home, in his bed, with family by his side. He was born December 28, 1935 in Stetson, a son of Howard and Grace (Lapoint) Eells. Darrell graduated from Corinna Union Academy in 1954. He was proud to have worked for the State Highway Department for 41 years, working his way up from laborer to foreman. He retired in 1994. Darrell loved camping with his family and friends. He was always the "Camping Chef". Darrell was a past member of the Sebasticook Valley Snowmobile Club. He also enjoyed his Saturday poker games with his friends. Darrell is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley (Merrill) Eells; son, Gary; daughter, Julie Clukey and husband Rick all of Stetson; 3 grandchildren, Shannon Perkins and husband Jonathan of Bradford, Kyle Clukey of Glenburn, and Zachary Eells and his partner, Melissa Wingfield of Brewer; 2 great grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Mia Perkins and Jackson Eells; special brother, David Eells and wife Salley of Stetson; 2 sisters, Libby Szpakowski and Laura Eells both of Corsicana, TX; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, January 9th at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, where funeral services will be held 11 A. M. Friday with Rev. George Perkins officiating.
