Obituary

Delina (Dee) Corrine Paradis Welch Terrio, 91, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on April 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Dee was born at the Buck place in Corinna, a daughter of Emile and Clarissa Paradis on May 6, 1933, attended Newport Schools and graduated as Salutatorian from Newport High School in 1951. Her first job was at Barrow's Pharmacy in Newport, marking the beginning of a long and dedicated career in healthcare and finance. She worked at Newport Trust Company, Sebasticook Valley Hospital, James Taylor Hospital, Waterville Osteopathic, Neology Associates, Memorial Hospital in Conway, NH, Medical Center in Hartland, and Waterman Hospital in Eustis, Florida. She spent 18 years living in Florida with Harold before returning home to Maine in 2007. Dee was a devoted member of her community, serving as President of the Newport PTA, Newport Business Professional Association, and Sebasticook Valley Hospital Auxiliary. She was also President and Secretary of Newport Area Seniors and an active member of organizations such as the GFWC Newport Women's Club, North Newport Grange, Sebasticook Lake Association, and Eastern Star 107 in Florida. Additionally, she was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Elks Lodge in Florida, and served as Secretary of the Cultural Center Board of Directors while contributing to the Cultural Center Historical Archives. Dee is preceded by her parents, Emile and Clarissa Paradis; her brothers Ernest and Philip Paradis; her first husband, Leland Welch; her second husband Harold Terrio, her daughter Deborah Welch, her son Bruce Welch, her daughter-in-law Alicia Welch, her niece Kim Bellfleur, her Aunt Jane Allen, her brother-in-law Bob Bellfleur, and her great grandson Johnathan Brady Brogden. Dee is survived by her brother Tim Paradis and his wife Carole, her sister Nancy Bellfleur, her sister-in-law Lillian Paradis, her son Steve Welch and his wife Lucy, her daughter Brenda Welch, her daughter-in-law Pam Provandie and husband Skip, her son-in-law Stanton Terrio, her daughter-in-law Lena Gladczuk and husband Merik, she leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Kaili Walters and her husband Brett, Dena Scrontino and her husband Mathew, Jherad Welch and his wife Jenny, Linzy Welch, Melanie Martin, Corey Welch, Maribel and husband Randy Brogden, Luigi Tacadena and wife Jessie, Lerry Tacadena, SJ Welch. As well as many great grandchildren; Riley Walters, Brock Walters, Nico Walters, Jace Walters, Reese Walters, Victoria Scrontino, Anthony Scrontino, Raiden Scrontino, Isis Welch, Indy Welch, Izaak Wilson, Evan Wright, Zola Welch, Haleigh Martin, Bryce Welch, Laci Welch, Nolan Brogden, Alicia Brogden, Freya Tacadena, Monica Provandie, Shelly Provandie, and Marguerite Provandie , her nieces Tina Peppard and Lisa Dunphy, her nephews Tim Paradis Jr, Ronnie Paradis and Scott Paradis. Her cousins Robert Allen, Michael and Marcia Allen, Juanita Metivier Shaw, George and Betty Metivier, Richard and Jenny Metivier, Peter and Carol Metivier, Ann Howard, Peggy Mossy, Katherine Moulton, Henry and Donna Metivier, Eddie and Mabel Metivier, Precilla Theriault, Nancy Pagurko, Theresa Leonard, Francis Giroux, Bobby Paradis and lots of other special cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at Crosby and Neal Funeral Home in Newport on May 6, 2025 at 1PM with a luncheon to follow, after the family will be holding a private internment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dee's memory to the Newport Cultural Center, Newport, Maine. Dee found joy in life's simple pleasures— working at the cultural center, playing cards, watching soaps and gameshows, trying her luck at the slots, enjoying nearly daily luncheons with her friends and family, and sharing daily phone calls with her sister Nancy.
