Obituary

GARLAND & DEXTER - Derek Doncet, 70, passed away January 3, 2021 at his home after a long illness. He was born February 20, 1950 in Hartland, a son of Clayton and Marie (Gardner) Doncet. He graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield and at 18 entered the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam era. After his service Derek worked at Dexter Shoe and then became a meat cutter. He was known as "Critter" to all. He was Past President of the Dexter Jaycee's and will be remembered as a thoughtful, giving person. He would help anyone anytime they needed it. He is survived by his daughters, Shannon-Marie and husband Warren "Bub" Hall, and Duska Doncet, all of Garland; a brother, James and wife Brenda of Plainville, CT; a sister, Denise and husband Michael McEwen of Dexter; grandchildren and great grandchildren who referred to him as "Bamp", Cameron Doncet-Hall and wife Jasmine of Bangor and their children Aria, Grace and Ella who were his "goober girls", Devin Hall and significant other Kayla Webber and their children, Tucker and Aleigha, and Tanner Hall and significant other Jessica Spencer; aunt and uncle Pricilla and Paul Proctor of Texas; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Derek was predeceased by his infant sister Duska. Special thanks are extended to neighbors Kathi and John Cyr, Buddy Drew and Jason Williams and family who were always there for him when needed. There will be no services at this time but a celebration of life will be held later in the year. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
