TROY- Diane Jean Nute, 68, was welcomed to her home in glory with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024. She was born in Bangor, Maine on October 21st,1955 to Donald and Agnes Campbell and grew up in Frankfort in a family of 7 children, Bud, Ty, Doug, Willie, Peter, and Matthew.
She worked as a seamstress in Marietta, GA and continued with this trade when she returned to Maine. She met the love of her life, Jim Nute, at a youth group roller skating outing. They shared a love and friendship that is inspiring to many during their 45 years of marriage. They worked together on building renovations and made beautiful homes, using their creative gifts faithfully and generously.
Diane joined her son Eric, her mother Aggie, her brother Willie and sister-in-law Terrie, Uncle Ashley, and countless loved ones in the faith who have gone before her. She delighted in her children and grandchildren, including Eric's children, Caleb, Austin, Libby, and Colby Nute of Winterport and Hampden. She is also survived by her daughter Jill and husband Dale Overlock and their children Iris, Owen, and Charlotte of Newburgh.
Diane loved to have her grandchildren for sleepovers- to make cookies, watch movies, and go swimming or sledding. She shared many memorable road trips and adventures with her family and could find fun anywhere she went!
Diane worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural and city carrier and then as a postmaster in several offices until she moved to the Troy post office where she served for 15 years. She loved serving and getting to know the town's people and made many lasting friendships there. She had a heart for all children, whether they be her own children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews or the dear ones she taught in Sunday school. She loved to tell each child how much Jesus loves them. She was involved in youth work and Sunday school in her home church of Nealley's Corner in Hampden, ME where her father, Don Campbell, pastored for many years, and at her current home church, The Steadfast Church. She treasured spending time with her family and church family and meeting new people as well. She was known to sit down and have deep, meaningful conversations with people she just met.
Her love for the Lord and love for people will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the building project at The Steadfast Church in Diane's memory, 2177 Western Avenue, Newburgh, ME 04444.
