Cambridge– Dorothy Joyce Dow, 78, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026. She was born on September 3, 1947, in New Brunswick, Canada, and later moved to the United States as a young girl, where she built a life centered on family, friendship, and simple joys.
Dorothy met the love of her life, Elliott W. Dow, and the two were married in 1966, sharing 40 devoted years together. They made their home in Cambridge, where Dorothy became known for her warm spirit and welcoming nature.
She found joy in life's quiet and creative moments. Dorothy loved crocheting, knitting, working on puzzles, and cooking for those she loved. She also had a lively side and could often be found dancing the night away at her favorite local spots—Melody Lane, the Red Garter, and the Red Barn. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends over board games, especially Aggravation, where laughter was always guaranteed.
Dorothy worked for Dexter Shoe for several years before dedicating 25 years to Hardwood Products, where she remained until her retirement. She took pride in her work and the connections she made along the way.
She was predeceased by her mother, Lillian Frost; her stepfathers, Gerald Judd and Perry Frost; her beloved husband, Elliott W. Dow; her brother, Earl Freeman; and her sisters, Betty Neal and Anna Peterson.
Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jolene Gray and her husband Orman of Sangerville, and Deidra McTighe and her husband Kevin of St. Albans; her cherished grandchildren, Ashley and her husband James, Zoey (Zenix), Frankie, and Henry; and her adored great-grandchildren, Locke, Trisha, Varland III, Grayson, Lane Aubri, and Ammiah. She also leaves behind her close friends, Lynda Smart and Patsy Gray, who were like family to her.
Dorothy had a special place in her heart for her beloved pets, Loki and Attie May. Loki, especially, was her constant companion—her little shadow. She loved them unconditionally and took great joy in spoiling them.
Dorothy will be remembered for her kindness, her love of family, her playful spirit, and the many happy memories she created with those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
