Obituary

Dorothy Ann (Bailey) Mountain, 88, of Dexter, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Parkman, Maine, Dorothy grew up in a close-knit family that shaped her lifelong devotion to love, resilience, and faith. She built her life around family and hard work. For over 25 years, she worked at the Dexter Shoe Factory, later serving at Dexter Health Care until her retirement. Even after retiring, Dorothy continued to give of herself as a Penquis Foster Grandparent for more than a decade, touching the lives of countless children. A proud member of the Central Maine Country Music Association, Dorothy's love of music was one of the many ways she shared joy with others. Dorothy lived with a compassionate heart. She was patient and wise, generous with her time, and always ready with a story or a laugh. She loved the simple joys of life-baking something warm for her family, reading her daily newspaper, and spending time at camp, where memories were made across generations. Most of all, she cherished being surrounded by her family, who always knew just how deeply she cared She is predeceased by her first husband, Carl Woodard; her second husband, Robert Mountain; her parents, Nina, and Ernest Bailey; her sister, Joyce Kimball; and her brothers, Arthur, James, Stub, Dana, Howard, and Har Bailey. Dorothy is survived by her loving partner, Fred Cooley of Corinna; her son, Keith Woodard, and his wife, Cindy, of Palmyra; her daughter, Carla Hobart of Dexter; her grandson, Nathan Woodard of Kenduskeag; her granddaughter, Kelly Smith, and her partner, Lucien Gagne, of Augusta; her great-grandchildren, Kleho Gagne, Gage Gagne, and Ryan Woodard; her nephew, Ricky Woodward of Atkinson; her great-nephews, Benjamin, Nicholas, Alexander, and Matthew Woodward; and her great-niece, Kaitlyn Weymouth. Her family will forever remember her as the heart of their circle-steadfast, encouraging, and always making sure every one of them knew they were loved. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Morses Corner Cemetery in Corinna, Maine.
