Obituary

DEXTER - Doug D. Doyon, 86, died September 13, 2018 at his residence. He was born December 27, 1931 in Dexter, a son of Joseph and Cecilia (Goulette) Doyon. He graduated from N. H. Fay High School, Class of 1950; Farmington State Teachers College, Class of 1954; and the University of Maine, Orono, Class of 1961, with a Master's Degree in Education. After teaching for 4 years in Hartland, Doug served as principal of Eastland Elementary School and the Corinna Junior High School for 33 years, retiring in 1991. He also was the principal filling vacancies in Boothbay Harbor, Dexter and Newport. Doug was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of The Snows, St. Anne's Church in Dexter. Music was always a big part of Doug's life, serving many years as cantor and choir member at St. Anne's. He also belonged to the Dexter Community Chorus that sang weekly at the Dexter Healthcare, and performed annual cantatas for Christmas and Easter. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and was a longtime member of the Plummer Foundation. Doug was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed all Boston area sports. He enjoyed following his children's and grandchildren's sports activities. He is survived by a son Peter and wife Kimberly of Cape Elizabeth; a daughter Amy and husband Scott Webber of Dexter; a brother Hilary Doyon of FL; 4 grandchildren, Dana and Olivia Webber, Ella and Jack Doyon; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dotty; and siblings, Loretta Clifford, Beverly Ward, Clifford "Deak" and Dana Doyon. Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, September 18th, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main Street, Dexter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A. M. Wednesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Dexter, with the Rev. Fr. Rob Lupo officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Memorial donations may be sent to St. Anne's Parish, P. O. Box 193, Dexter, ME 04930.
