STETSON & PLYMOUTH - Douglas Grant Tibbetts, 73, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly December 17, 2022 in Palmyra doing something that he loved to do, plowing out his church for Sunday morning services. He was born September 12, 1949 in Etna, a son of Orie and Marguerite (Whitley) Tibbetts. Doug was a well known, capable mechanic and was also a self employed used car salesman.
He was a past member and former elder of the Emmanuel Bible Baptist Church in Plymouth and was a current member of the Palmyra Church. Doug was also a former selectman and constable for the Town of Plymouth. He also enjoyed collecting a variety of antiques. He was a hard worker enabling all of his children to be educated at a private Christian school. He will be sadly missed by his family and church family.
He is survived by his 4 children, Loraine and husband Kenneth Bubar of Bangor, Cynthia and husband Nathan Lane of Glenburn, Timothy and wife Heather Tibbetts of Stetson, Rebecca and husband Pasquale Addessi of Levant; a special niece and adopted daughter Elizabeth (Tibbetts) Morrow of Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren that he was so proud of: Andrew, Sydney, Devan, Dominick, David, Anthony, Joshua, Spencer and Daniel. He is also survived by 2 siblings, Edwin Tibbetts of Jay and Alice Paduchak of Keene, NH; and his best friend and companion, Chris of Troy.
A viewing will be held at 11 A. M. Friday, December 23rd, at the Messiah Baptist Church, 985 Union Street, Bangor, followed by a celebration of life at 12 noon. Pastors Clayton Ramsdell of Palmyra and Brian McCarthy of Stetson will officiate. There will be a time of fellowship following the funeral. A private burial will be in the spring. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Palmyra Church, 883 Main Street, Palmyra, ME 04965.
