Garland
With his family by his side, Dwaine quietly left this world and joined the love of his life, Marilyn. He was the son of Clarence and Leonia Giles, the father of Gary & Jeannie Giles, Galen and Kathy Doore and Douglas Giles. He was a grandfather to 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was the brother to Mabel Day, Phyllis Webber, Robert Giles, Wendell Giles, Harry Giles, Olivia Curtis, Herbert Giles, Maxine Faloon and Rodney Giles. He was a special Uncle to Sanford Giles.
Dwaine was a man of his word. He promised his father he would keep the family reunions going and true to his word, him and his wife hosted them for many years at their home and made the Giles famous baked beans. Dwaine was the family auctioneer for many of those years and could sell anything with a grin. Dwaine took pride in being the oldest living member of the Giles family and oldest resident of Garland. This earned him the Boston Globe Award and Cane in May of 2024, which he displayed with honor. Dwaine will be remembered for his love of rolling change and his famous Peanut Butter Fudge and Homemade Chocolates during the holidays. The family would like to send a special Thank you to Kathy for the great love and care she gave.
Visiting hours will be October 10th from 10 – 11 at New Hope Baptist Church in Dexter. A service will be held at 11. Following the service, the family will have a private burial at the Evergreen Cemetery in Garland.
