STETSON- Ellen Laura Hands, 78, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 29th, 2024. She was born April 29th, 1946, in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of Ralph and Kathryn (Thau) Geiselman. Ellen was the perfect combination of strength and grace. She never wanted the attention of the room, but she certainly had it. Always the one with comforting words, or the tough advice, but usually the best combination of both. She was, without a doubt, the glue that binds. Ellen was most comfortable in her home. It could be tending to her beautiful flower gardens, feeding the birds or watching the deer graze in the field through the kitchen window, but probably most during those summer evenings out on the porch with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. She was all about the simple things and in her passing she would no doubt say, "it is what it is". She is survived by her husband Samuel Hands; her children Jody and husband William Freudenberger, Rebecca and husband Brad Underhill, Kathleen and husband Trevor Snow, Michael Hands, Timothy Hands and husband Paul Jackson, Sara Hatch and partner Jason Emery, Noah Hands and wife Adriena Hands; sister-in-law Lynne Geiselman; 28 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 4 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brother David A. Geiselman and grandson Gabriel Hands. Friends may call from 2 to 5pm at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport, Maine. On November 2nd, 2024.
