Dexter-
Elsie Dorine Belanger, 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 12, 2026, at Pleasant Meadows Assisted Living in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born on March 23, 1937, the daughter of Samuel and Esther (Downs) Rockwell.
Elsie married the love of her life, Herman Belanger, on November 24, 1956. She worked for many years at Dexter Shoe and was known for her strong work ethic and caring nature.
Elsie will be remembered for her best-ever Sunday dinners, her homemade Christmas treats, and most of all, her deep love for her family. She cherished her babies, always greeted the day with a smile, and left a lasting warmth with everyone she met.
She is survived by her daughters, Lorraine Wintle and her husband Stephen of Dexter, Darlene Scott and her husband Reggie of Orono, and Carmlita Chini and her husband Jerry of Bracey, Virginia; her sons, Jeffrey Belanger and his wife Susan of Dexter, and Sheldon Belanger of St. Marys, Georgia; her brother, Edgar Rockwell; her sisters, Maxine Fernald, Lilian Sands, and Roberta Glover; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Belanger; her son, Scott Belanger; and her brother, Ronald Rockwell.
A private funeral service for family will be held in the spring.
