Obituary

PALMYRA - Elwin Raymond, 71, passed away unexpectedly December 20, 2022 at his home with his only daughter Michelle by his side. He was born September 16, 1951 in Dover-Foxcroft, a son of Robert and Gertrude (Woodard) Raymond. Elwin graduated from Nokomis Regional High, Class of 1970. He also attended Southern Maine Vocational School where he received a Certificate as Construction Equipment Mechanic. Elwin entered the U. S. Army in 1971 and was discharged in 1979. He also was stationed in Japan in the U. S. Navy. He was an over the road trucker and worked at various companies. He would give of himself to others whether or not he had the time. He opened his house to many who needed a place to stay. Elwin was a funny man and loved to make people laugh. He had a very close bond with his daughter Michelle and talked every day. He also owned and drove race cars, watching and participating in many weekend races. Elwin is survived by 4 children, Michelle (Dale) Robbins, Shaun (Serena) Raymond, Maranda (Josh) Kehoe, and E. J. Wing; Michelle's children who were special to him, Brooke (Ryan) Robbins and Dale Robbins, II who is currently serving in the U. S. Navy overseas, and his great grandson Theodore, whom he affectionately called Teddy; 11 additional grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; 3 brothers, Roger, Robert and (Martha), and Dwayne Raymond; best friends Duayne Vais and Pat White; and his "pampered cat" Widget. He was predeceased by parents and grandparents, a sister Donna True, and long-time companion and best friend Donna Wing. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the Palmyra Community Center. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal.
