Ernest David Knowlton, Sr. Obituary (1933

NEWPORT & DIXMONT - Ernest David Knowlton, Sr., 82, died November 15, 2016 at a Bangor hospital. He was born November 22, 1933 in Dixmont, a son of Leonard and Fannie (Henderson) Knowlton. He retired from Dexter Shoe Company after 27 years as a handsewer. He also worked for himself as a woodsman. Ernest was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved snowmobiling. He will be remembered as working hard to provide for his large family. He is survived by his children, Shirley Jewett, David and wife Tracy Knowlton, all of Dixmont, Roberta and husband Bruce Bowden of Etna, Michael Knowlton of Unity, Douglas Knowlton and Tammy Knowlton, both of Troy; brothers and sisters, Vivian Black of Brewer, Althea Brasslett of Florida, Medelia Gatcomb of Kenduskeag, and Roger Knowlton of Florida; several grandchildren, great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Bertha Knowlton, a son Ernest David Knowlton, Jr., brothers Morris Knowlton and Rodney Knowlton; and a sister Ruth Bishop. Graveside committal services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, November 22nd, at Simpson's Corner Cemetery, Dixmont, with the Rev. Robert Emrich officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
