Obituary

DEXTER - Eugene Foster, 93, died April 1, 2022 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born August 13, 1928 in Louisville, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Korea and Vietnam for 21 years, discharged from the U.S. Naval Security Group at Winter Harbor. Eugene operated an antique business in Gouldsboro, worked as a meat cutter in Jonesport and was a chef at Jed Prouty's Tavern in Bucksport. He also worked at the Acadia Conservation Corps and was the kitchen manager at Dow Air Force Base for a year. He moved from downeast to Dexter in 1983, built a log home and repaired antique snowmobiles for 12 years. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janet (Small) Elliott Foster; a stepdaughter, Lynn and husband Brian Meagher of Starks; and a stepson, Eric Elliott of Augusta and Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held at 1 P.M. Saturday, April 30th at the Exeter Full Gospel Church, with the Rev. Chris Faloon officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. Burial will be private.
