Obituary

Eugene Polnicki, 81, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 25, 2026. He was born in Stoieszyn, Poland, on November 24, 1944, the son of the late Stefan and Frances (Tes) Polnicki. Eugene grew up on his family farm before immigrating to the United States at the age of 17, when his family settled in Salem, Massachusetts. He met the love of his life, Elizabeth Kaminski, and they were married on June 19, 1966, in Peabody, Massachusetts. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and hard work, raising their two sons, Andrew and Adam, in Beverly Farms, Massachusetts, before later making their home in Dexter, Maine. Eugene worked for many years as a machinist and mechanic, first at United Shoe in Beverly and later at Varian in Gloucester. He was a man who liked to keep busy and was always working with his hands, whether rebuilding engines, renovating his home, or woodworking. He had a creative and inventive spirit and never met a problem he couldn't solve. In his younger years, he also enjoyed working on motorcycles with his brother, Myron. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who worked tirelessly to support his family. Eugene also held a special place in his heart for animals, especially his beloved dog, Buddy. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Elizabeth (Kaminski) Polnicki; his sons, Andrew Polnicki and his wife, Sherry, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Adam Polnicki and his wife, Michelle, of Beverly Farms, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Alex of Brunswick, Maine, Amanda of Gloucester, Massachusetts, Abram of Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Benjamin of Beverly, Massachusetts; his brother, Myron of Peabody, Massachusetts; and his sister, Helen of South Carolina. A celebration of life will be held at a later time for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Boys Town, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
