Obituary

DEXTER - Florence M. (Chabot) Gould, 93, passed away Friday, October 8th, 2021 in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born May 23, 1928 in Exeter, the youngest of the 9 children of Aurele J. and Mary (Laflamme) Chabot. Florence attended Spring Street School in Dexter and graduated from N.H. Fay High School in 1947. She married Gerald Gould on June 10, 1950, who predeceased her in 1965. She began working at the Ben Franklin store in Dexter before her employment at Central Maine Power Company, where she remained for 25 years. She completed her working career at Dexter Nursing Home from which she retired in 1986. Florence was active in her community where she enjoyed bowling on teams and acting as Secretary and Treasurer for the Dexter Alumni Association for several years. She was a life-long, active member of St. Anne's Church, Our Lady of the Snows Parish, where she enjoyed participating in many activities. Aunt Florence, as she was known by so many and "Aunto" by some, was a much loved member of her large family with her warm heart, special smile and sense of fun. In earlier days, she was always willing to help her older sisters and brothers with their growing families, holding babies and caring for their older siblings. She was thought of as a "second mother" by some and many of her nieces have fond memories of gathering together on Saturdays at her house. As the nieces and nephews grew older, married and had families of their own, she seemed to have a special relationship with each person and all came to recognize Aunt Florence's special place in the family. She enjoyed involvement in any and all gatherings and remained involved throughout her life, deeply devoted to all of her family and friends. She has now joined so many family members who predeceased her, including her parents, husband, all of her siblings and their spouses, and several nieces and nephews. Her brothers included Louis, Joseph, Lionel, Paul and Phillip Chabot and sisters Jeannette Clukey, Helen Clukey and Rita Clukey. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. Her family wishes to thank the caring people at Day Spring in Dexter, Pleasant Meadows in Dover-Foxcroft, Hospice and many others who showed so much kindness to her in her last days. She will be buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with her husband and family members. Wearing purple, Florence's favorite color would be a small way of showing your fondness for her. Services will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, October 20th, with Deacon David Denbow officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 383 U. S. Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
