Frances "Ginger Mae" Dyer Obituary (1929

CORINNA - Frances M. Dyer, 82, went home with her Lord March 3, 2012. She was born April 29, 1929 in Bangor, a daughter of John and Minnie (Barry) Cairns. She graduated from Portland High School. Frances was a member of the Pleasant Street Christian Church, the Downeast, Pine Tree and Maine Country Music Associations, and was a key performer with the bands "Country Spirit" and "Ginger Mae and The Western Play Boys". She was named "Top Yodeler of The Year" in Branson, Missouri; belonged to the Academy of Country Music and the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame. She was also a member of the Dusters Antique Car Club. She is survived by 4 sons, James, Jr. and wife Patricia of Atlanta, Georgia, Daniel and Donald Dyer, both of Corinna, and Pastor Darrell and wife Paula of Charleston; 2 sisters-in-law, Caroline Annis of Corinna, and Kathleen Dyer of Bangor; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece and her husband, Mary Ellen and Richard Small. She will be fondly remembered by dear friends, Ken Wentworth, "Buck" Bisbee, Marion White, Nat Jackson, Gloria Jean Stikes, Betty Gribin, Ruby Story, Everard Dodge, Brian Gelina, Yogi and Lolalee Dillingham. She was predeceased by her husband, James, Sr. and by a daughter, Judith Jordan. Friends may call from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, March 5th at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Funeral services will be held 11 A. M. Saturday, May 5th, at the Pleasant Street Christian Church, Corinna, with Pastor Michael Troyer, and her son Darrell officiating. Burial will be in the Nutter Cemetery, Corinna. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship fund established to benefit a student pursuing a music education, in care of R.S.U. #19, P.
