Newport, ME.
Frank O. Pray, Jr., 78, passed suddenly with his wife by his side on June 12, 2025. He was born in Bangor, ME to Frank and Helena (Murray) Pray on October 10, 1946. Frank graduated from Newport High School in 1964 and went on to attend the University of Maine at Orono and received a business degree from Husson College. Frank valued honest and hard work and was always a salesman at heart. He owned St. Albans Home Sales, Inc. for over 25 years and was very proud to help families live in affordable, well-built homes.
Frank and Kathy were high school sweethearts and married in Newport on August 16, 1969. They were truly an inspiration of what a marriage should be. They were very fortunate to have great friends, many wonderful trips and many adventures together. Frank was very proud to live in Newport for most of his life, but in his later years he enjoyed long winters in North Ft. Myers, FL. He loved teasing those of us still in Maine about the temperature difference during the winter, especially during a snowstorm.
Frank was a Past Master of the Meridian Splendor Masonic Lodge in Newport; a member of the Sebasticook Valley Elks Lodge as well as the Anah Temple Shrine; he also served on the Newport Board of Selectman. Frank was proud of his country and served in the Air National Guard.
Frank was predeceased by his parents Frank and Lena Pray, and his brother-in-law Russell Sawyer. He is survived by his wife of almost 56 years Kathy (Sawyer) Pray; his daughter Shelby Emery and her husband Scott of Newport, ME. His grandson Josh Emery and his fiancé Alicia Vining of Nashville, TN. His sister Cheryl King and her husband Donald of Newport, ME; his brother Charlie Pray and his partner Janet Weaver of Waldo, ME; and sister-in-law Jane Sawyer of Bangor, ME. He is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at Crosby & Neal Funeral home in Newport on Tuesday, June 24th from 4-7 pm, with a Masonic service starting at 5:30. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Frank's memory to the Bangor Humane Society at 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401.
