ST. ALBANS- George O. Cooney, 71, died November 8, 2017, at the Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield. He was born in St. Albans, June 22, 1946, the son of Hugh and Clarisa (Getchell) Cooney.

George served for 6 years in the Army Reserve. He was a jack of all trades, but especially loved working in the woods and rebuilding old tractors.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Clowry) Cooney in 2012.

He is survived by a son, Michael Cooney and his fiance, Kristen Forrest of St. Albans; a daughter, Sandy Bussell and her husband, Craig of St. Albans; grandchildren, Dakota, Mikayla and Devin Bussell, and Makenzie and Maya Cooney.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date, with burial in the Ferndale Cemetery in Ripley.
