Obituary

STETSON - George Charles Perkins, Sr., 86, died June 4, 2022 at a Dover-Foxcroft health care facility. He was born August 7, 1935 in Preston, CT, a son of Daniel and Helen (Parker) Perkins. He served in the U. S. Army for 20 years during the Korean and Vietnam era. He served with the 2nd Infantry Division for 16 months in Korea and he was in Germany during the time that the Berlin Wall was built. He also served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 during the Tet offensive with the 199th Infantry Division and again in 1971 to 1972. George held many awards and decorations including The American Defense Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the NATO Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was employed most of his life as a truck driver. George was a member of the Guilford American Legion. He is survived by 2 sons, George, Jr. and wife Kay of Stetson, Shane and wife Barbara of Abbot; a daughter Debbie Wasilewski of Harmony; a sister, Ruth Sweet of N. Franklin CT; 16 grandchildren; and a number of great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, June 18th, at the Parkman Baptist Church. Family committal services will be held in Connecticut. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
