Obituary

NEWPORT and BROOKSVILLE, FL - Geraldine Evelyn (Vigue) Knight, 95, died December 8, 2018 at her residence in Brooksville, Florida. She was born November 8, 1923 in Skowhegan, a daughter of Edward and Bertha (Cote) Vigue. She graduated from Lawrence High School and married Belmont Knight in 1941. Geraldine was a loving mother and homemaker. She also held many jobs. She loved flowers and her favorite position was working at Stuart's Greenhouse in Newport. In 1988 Geraldine represented Plymouth, Maine as an ambassador to the 400th celebration of the Spanish Armada in Plymouth, England. Geraldine served on the S.A.D. #48 school board, representing Plymouth for 12 years. She was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church in Plymouth and also a member of the Grace Brethren Church of Brooksville, Florida. She loved making jam and giving it away. She also crocheted afghans to give to homeless shelters. She is survived her daughters, Joyce Dudley and husband Leland of Brooksville, FL, and Janice Bubar of Pittsfield; her sons, Richard and wife Jackie of Trinity, FL, Todd and wife Kate of Tampa FL.; 6 grandchildren, Kevin Foster, Leslie Young, Martha Knight, Gary Knight, Tori Bubar and Marshal Knight; 8 great grandchildren, Andrew, Aaron, Hannah and Seth Foster, Taylor Young, Madison Knight and Ayden and Lucas Knight. Geraldine was predeceased by her husband Belmont of 59 years; her brothers, Sherman Earl Sheldon and Kenneth Sheldon. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, January 11th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, January 12th, at Emanuel Baptist Church, Plymouth Spring burial will be in the Sawyer Cemetery, Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Emanuel Baptist Church, P. O. Box 62, Plymouth, ME 04969; or to the Grace Brethren Church, 6259 Faber Drive, Brooksville, FL 34602.
