Obituary

St. Albans – Harry S. Finnemore, 78, passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2025. He was born on October 1, 1946, the son of Harry S. and Thera E. (Gardiner) Finnemore. To say he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather would be appropriate but would also reduce him to just another man who left this world. Harry was so much more to people far beyond family and friends. The lives this man touched in his years is remarkable. From his military service and tours in Vietnam, those he worked with and beside as a prison guard, but more poignantly, to those he interacted with daily as a restaurant owner, cook and custodian at Colby College, curator at the Waterville Historical Society Museum, store customer, and even Good Samaritan on the roadside. He also had a strong relationship with God which manifested itself throughout his life as well as in his dedicated service in the various churches that he attended over the years. Recently, at the First Baptist Church in Harmony, Maine, he had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Song Leader, as well as on several committees. His testimony was an inspiration and encouragement to the entire church family. Because of his love for Jesus, Harry was and is the example we all needed and still need to understand how we should treat others, what an excellent work ethic is, and how to love our children and everyone we encounter. In short, in his imperfection, he is a role model. He is survived by his loving wife and partner, Kathleen Finnemore; his children, Bryan and his wife Bonny, Jenifer Finnemore, and Aaron and his wife Nancy Finnemore; his stepchildren, Joshua and his wife Danielle Baci, Jessica and her husband Brian Raimy; his brothers, George and his wife Barbara, Norman and his wife Joan, and his sister Sandra Peterson. Harry was a proud grandfather to; Ryan and Baylee Denbow, Tyler and Rebecca Denbow, Mychaela Denbow, Nichole Johnson-Finnemore, Cameron Johnson, Joy Finnemore, Alex Haze, Willow Haze-Kleinow, Sarah Finnemore, and Abby Finnemore, as well as step-granddaughters Abby Maldonado, Amelia and Fiona Baci and Violet Raimy; his great-grandchildren, Clara Thomas and Waylon Gosse, and Tomas Samuel. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who looked up to and loved him very much. Harry is Preceded in Death By his parents, Harry & Thera Finnemore, his devoted first wife and loving mother to his children, Donnice Finnemore, his sisters Barbara and Beverly, and his brother-in-law Ron Peterson. A service to honor Harry's life will take place, first on May 3, 2025 @1pm at the First Baptist Church in Harmony; for the Church Family, Friends, Family, and Classmates. His internment at the Veteran's Cemetery in Augusta, Maine will take place on June 20th and finally, a larger public Celebration of Life will take place on June 21st, 2025 @1pm at Centerpoint Community Church in Waterville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to: The Harmony First Baptist Church Steeple Restoration Fund.
