Obituary

GREENVILLE JCT.- Harry S. Genest, 85, died January 3, 2013, at C.A. Dean Hospital in Greenville. He was born November 23, 1927, in Greenville, the son of Fred and Hilda (Breau) Genest.

Harry grew up in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School, class of 1948. He joined the Army in 1950 and was stationed in Germany. After the being discharged from the Army in 1952, he worked as an iron worker for the next 30 years, and was a member of Iron Worker's Local #496. He traveled extensively, working as a welder, connector, and rigger.

He and his wife, Mary (Ryder) Genest, were married in 1953, and together they owned and operated the Greenwood Motel from 1968 to 1980. After that, they went to Florida for 24 winters.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother and his wife, Fred Jr. and Thelma; a brother, Dana; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Carr.

He will be missed by his wife, Mary of Greenville Jct.; a sister, Virginia Carr of S. Portland; a sister-in-law, Vella Crossman of Greenville; a brother-in-law, Win "Bub" Ryder of Veazie; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at the Greenville Chapel of Crosby & Neal, located in the Masonic building in Greenville, with Pastor Marilyn Rohdin officiating.

Spring burial will be in the Greenville Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at C.A. Dean Hospital for their wonderful care.
