Obituary

St. Albans -- Harry “Skip” Percy Gordon Jr. 88 of St. Albans, Maine passed away peacefully on October 27, 2026, at the Northern Light Mayo Hospital.

Born in Pittsfield, Skip was the eldest of 5 siblings to Harry and Arlene Gordon. He attended MCI High School where he played baseball and ran track. Skip was employed at the Edwards company for most of his career. Upon retiring from Edwards, he and his brother Marty worked for a small concrete company for a few years before he was hired with Sargent Corporation where he worked as a laborer until he was 84. Skip loved working with the Sargent family and its employees.

Skip loved sports, especially baseball, he played even later in life. He helped start and coached the St. Albans Little League teams where his sons Doug and Kevin played. Skip was always physically active, he and his daughter Lisa participated in the American Lung Association’s (3-day, 180 mile) Trek Across Maine for many years, he was the oldest participant for a period.

Skip always loved a good prank and having fun. While working at Sargent’s, it was not uncommon for a snowball fight to break out; often Skip was somehow involved. He was even caught “importing” snowballs in a cooler upon occasion.

Skip and his wife Helen loved animals. They took in many stray cats and usually had some dogs. They took in many rescue horses, giving them a loving home on the family farm. Lisa still cares for Midnight and Zipper, who are enjoying life on the farm.

Skip was predeceased by his wife Helen, his brothers Martelle and Richard. He is survived by his daughter Lisa, son Douglass and wife Pare, son Kevin and wife Catherine, sister Carole, brother Michael and wife Mary as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family plans to have a small celebration of life later.
