Obituary

STETSON- It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Heather Lynn Tibbetts, aged forty-eight, who departed from this life into eternal life on Saturday, June 28th at Northern Light EMMC in Bangor, Maine. Heather was born on August 25th, 1976, in Norwood, Massachusetts. She was the beloved child of Deborah Lee (Desper) McCarthy and Brian John McCarthy. Heather was the cherished sibling of Ronald McCarthy (Mollie), Stacy Labby (Chad), Christy McCarthy (Tyler), and Brian McCarthy II (Alyssha). Heather was a graduate of Bangor Christian, class of 1994. She is survived by her beloved husband, Timothy Grant Tibbetts, whom she married on July 7th, 2007, and welcomed her two stepchildren Andrew and Devan Tibbetts. Heather is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews whom she adored very much, and her beautiful dogs Duke, Digby, and Duchess. As well as many dear friends and relatives who will forever cherish her memory. Throughout her life, Heather was known for her great success in the ParaOptometric community here in Maine, and at the national level as a CPO-T. She dedicated much of her time to further advancing the ParaOptometric profession, through which she was awarded the Affiliate Recruitment award (2008), the Maine ParaOptometric of the Year award (2015), the Bridgeway award (2017), and many more. Heather faithfully served in the church throughout her life, where she enjoyed coordinating and cooking for countless luncheons and events, teaching Sunday school, putting together the weekly bulletins, and helping wherever she was needed. She touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity. She was a beautiful example of grace and love. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the support and condolences received during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maine ParaOptometric Association to support the education of future CPO-T's as well as Messiah Baptist Church. May she rest in eternal peace, may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her, and may her life on this earth be an example of Christ's love in us. A funeral service will be held at Messiah Baptist Church, 985 Union Street in Bangor, on July 7th at 1pm.
