CORINNA - Henri Carlton Gilbert, 73, passed away unexpectedly April 13, 2023 at his home in Corinna. He was born June 23, 1949 in Bronxville, New York, to Jean Paul and Mary (Stringer) Gilbert. Henri grew up in Westport, Connecticut, spending many of his summers in Hingham, Massachusetts visiting his grandmother. He graduated from Eisenhower College in 1972 and later pursued a career as a flight attendant for United Airlines. Henri made the move to Abbot in 1987, where he later met his wife, Elizabeth, in 1993. He retired in 2002 and also married Elizabeth. Together, they moved to Newport, where they resided for 16 years until they made the move to Corinna. Henri loved gardening, cooking, writing, and talking politics. He also enjoyed being a "Poppy" and spending time with his grandchildren, Harrison, Welles, and Gwyneth. He was predeceased by his brothers, Mark and Jean Paul Gilbert, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Corinna; his son, Zach Michal of Lake Villa, Illinois, along with his wife and daughter; his step-daughter, Mary and husband Michael Glynn and their three children, all of Newport. He is also survived by his stepson Michael Graziano of Staten Island, New York, as well as several nieces and nephews. There will be no services at his request.
