ELLSWORTH and DEXTER - James D. Higgins, 86, died January 3, 2022 in Rockland. He was born June 14, 1935 in Boston, MA, a son of Henry and Jennie (Tupper) Higgins. He graduated from Dexter High School, Class of 1953 and served in the U. S. Army. He was a past member of the Garland Grange. Jim was predeceased by his wife Margaret on September 15, 2021.

He is survived by his daughter, Joan Higgins of Ellsworth; his son Mark Higgins and wife Allyson Sorenson of Bangor; 9 grandchildren, Rebecca Prefontaine and wife Jessica, Jennifer Guildford and partner Dave Gow, Travis Higgins and partner Kyffin Dolliver, Jared Brown, Corey Brown, Danielle Carter, Hallee Sorenson, Madeline Tuite, and Jessica Higgins; 4 great-grandchildren, Carlos, Aaliyah, and Levi Prefontaine and Abel Higgins. He will also be remembered by close friends Robert Ness and Robert Anderson.

A spring graveside committal service will be held at the West Garland Cemetery. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
