Obituary

ETNA - James Joseph Roy, 50, died unexpectedly July 5, 2019 at his residence. He was born March 13, 1969, in Rockland, a son of John and Anita (Mishio) Roy, Sr. He graduated from Camden Rockport High School and served as an aircraft mechanic aboard the U.S. S. Enterprise during the Persian Gulf War. He also served as an EMT-I with the Brooks Ambulance, a member of the Brooks Volunteer Fire Department, and was a dispatcher with Waldo County Sheriff's Department. James was an avid hunter and fisherman and belonged to the Brooks American Legion Post 183, and the Disabled American Veterans. In his early years, he had followed in his father's footsteps as a cash register sales and service person with National Cash Register. In addition to his mother of Bangor, he is survived by his wife Valicia (Davis) Roy of Etna; 3 sons, Daniel Riley of TN, Justin Roy of Southbridge, Erving Pierce and wife Brianna of Utica, NY; 2 daughters, Nicole and husband Grant Fisher of TN and Meradith Roy, her fiance Ryan Chabotte and their daughter Anita-Joyce, all of Etna; a brother John and wife Theresa Roy of Parker, CO; 2 sisters, Janice and husband George Abendroth of Rockport, Jennifer and husband William Musor of Bangor; several nieces and nephews, and many young children who "adopted" him as "Dad". He was well known and loved by many. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Brooks Volunteer Ambulance Service, c/o Arthur Jewell Community Health Center, 60 Reynolds Road, Brooks, ME 04915. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
