Obituary

Jane M. Reid DEXTER – Jane Mary (Woodcock) Reid, 97, died December 24, 2023 at a Dexter healthcare facility. She was born May 7, 1926 in Lewiston, a daughter of Frederick and Honora (Sullivan) Woodcock. She graduated from John Bapst High School in Bangor and worked as an operator for New England Telephone in Bangor. During that time a high point in her life was operating a special "office" at Dow Airfield enabling troops to contact their families. Later, she also worked as a telephone operator at Fay-Scott Landis in Dexter. Jane was an avid reader and loved the Abbott Memorial Library in Dexter. She also loved to play Bingo. Jane was a communicant of Our Lady of the Snows Parish, St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter. She is survived by 4 sons, Daniel and wife Karen of Lewes Beach, DE, Frank of Scarborough, Timothy and wife Carolyn Fish of Bangor, and John of Auburn; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by her husband Richard; 5 brothers, Frederick II, Bernard, Frank, William, and Wallace; and a sister, Dorothy. A rite of committal will be celebrated 11 A.M. Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Memorial donations may be made to the Abbott Memorial Library, 1 Church Street, Dexter, ME 04930.
