NEWPORT- Jean Mae Lagasse, 65, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 28th, 1959, in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Jean graduated from Merrimack High School in New Hampshire, class of 1977. She went on to have a variety of jobs, but her favorite one was the title of daycare provider where she was known as "Miss Jean" by her littles and their parents. Jean loved spending time working in her gardens and each holiday season brought a new theme to her front porch which was admired by many. Jean is survived by her husband of 25 years, Phil Lagasse of Newport, a daughter Bethany and husband Justin Veazie of Hampden, a daughter Stephanie Lagasse of Bangor, four grandchildren that she adored, Kelsey, Caleb, Brayden, and McKenna, sister Sandy St. Pierre, her twin sister Joan Leadbetter, brothers, James Driscoll and Gregory Driscoll, who all fondly refer to her as Mrs. Walton. Jean was predeceased by her daughter, Kara Shanahan. Her parents, Nathan and Pauline (Woodard) Driscoll, and two brothers-in-law, Peter Leadbetter and David St. Pierre, and a special nephew Eric Driscoll. Services will be held at Morses Corner Cemetery in Corinna at 11am on June 23rd,2024. A Celebration of life will follow at Cervesas Southwest Grill in Newport Maine at 1pm. For those who wish to send flowers, may have them sent to the cemetery at the time of the services date.
