DEXTER - John "Jay" Jewett Jr., 58, passed away unexpectedly at a local hospital on July 17, 2021. He was born March 10, 1963 at Plummer Memorial Hospital in Dexter, a son of John and Anita (Gould) Jewett. Jay loved watching the Olympics, going camping, going to the Blue Hill Fair and watching horse pulls. He was the life of the party who loved telling stories and making people laugh. He worked at Dexter Shoe for twenty years and then worked at Affiliated Labs for sixteen. Jay is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 36 years, Gail (Lagasse) Jewett; son, Lucas Jewett and fiancee Kate Myers, all of Dexter; sister Diana and husband Raymond Clukey of Dexter; sister in law Karen Lagasse and husband Terry Sauls of Villa Rica, GA; brother in law Mark and wife Wendie Lagasse (his favorite outlaw) of Glenburn; and sister in law Beth Lagasse of Patten. He is also survived by his many family and friends. Jay is also survived by his favorite dog Wescott and favorite cat Kitty-Kitty. He was predeceased by his parents John and Anita Jewett; his father and mother in law James and Donna Lagasse; and nephew Scott Clukey. There will be no services at this time. Cremation arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
