DEXTER- John R. Vanderwal, 46, died November 25, 2017, at his home in Dexter. He was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, July 23, 1971, son of Theodora Vanderwal.

He worked as a mechanic in the local area for many years. He loved four wheeling in the summer time with his dear friend Don Smith of Corinna. A huge thank you to Steve Mann, another dear friend of John's for sticking by his side over the last few months and believing in John and never giving up on him.

John loved nothing more than helping others.

He is survived by his fiance, Brenda Cote of Dexter; and her daughter, Rachel Bates of St. Albans; 2 children, Shane Vanderwal, and Hailey Vanderwal, and mother of his children and close friend, Heather Tibbetts all of Garland; and a very special aunt, Debbie Vanderwal of Summerside, P.E.I. ; nieces and a nephew, Destiny, Trevor and Breanna Tibbetts. John had too many friends to list, but loved them all dearly.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Roseanne Vanderwal.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday December 10, 2017 at noon at the K of C Hall in Dexter. At the family's request no alcohol will be allowed.
