DEXTER - Joyce N. Austin, 84, passed away April 24, 2022 at her residence. She was born March 19, 1938 in Dexter, a daughter of Glen and Dorothy (Towle) Nelson. After graduating from N. H. Fay High School, she had four years of social services education and worked in that field, and later, the Dexter Head Start program. She worked as a secretary at Fay-Scott in Dexter, and also owned and operated with her husband, Dexter Wood Harvesting. Joyce was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dexter and the Daughters of Union Veterans. She enjoyed her hobbies: crocheting, sewing, arts and crafts. She is survived by her children, Kenneth, Kim and husband Steve Tewksbury, Sunny, Tammy, Lynne, Laura and Scott; a brother, Bradley Nelson; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Elwin "Sonny" Austin; her sister Linda Miller; 2 grandsons and 1 great grandson. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Kindred Hospice; her daughter Tammy and granddaughter Nicole for their special care allowing her to remain at home. A graveside committal service will be held 11 A.M. on Wednesday, June 1st, at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
