Joyce A. (Smith) Podziak, 83, went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2020. She was born August 27, 1936 in Dexter, a daughter of Quincy and Pauline (Gould) Smith. She graduated from N. H. Fay High School. Joyce held many positions over the years including factory work, cooking, farming and house cleaning. She was a member of the Newport Church of God. A dedicated Christian woman, she was also a devoted wife, mother, friend and supporter of her family and friends. Joyce is survived by her husband, Peter Podziak; 2 daughters, Deborah Briggs and Lorrell Frost, all of Newport; 2 brothers, Wayne and wife Julie Smith of Florida, Eugene and wife Margaret Smith of California; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Douglas Batchelder; and 2 brothers, Jim and Richard Smith. Friends may call from noon to 2 P.M. and 5 to 7 P.M. Thursday, January 16th, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main Street, Newport. A graveside funeral service will be held in the spring at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
