Karin was employed as a computer scientist and test engineer in the nano-technology industries, and later, she and Michael started their own business designing and marketing precision engineered metal components for the biotech industry. Most of all, she loved dogs and spent many happy hours in her dog-walking business.

Judkins and his husband, Luis Esteva Felix of Walnut Creek, CA; her nieces, Jessica and Nathalie Judkins Cooke, and her dog Layla, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins from Maine to Oregon.
