Obituary

ST. ALBANS- Kathy Butler Neill died on April 28th, 2024, in Dunedin, Fl after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born on June 1st, 1959, to James W. Butler Sr and Marilyn (Langley) Butler. She graduated from Hermon High School in 1977 and University of Maine in Farmington in 1981 with a BS Degree in Teaching. In 1998 she earned her master's degree in special education. In 1981, Kathy met the love of her life Thomas W. Neill. They were married on March 7th, 1982. Kathy and Tom enjoyed spending time with their two children on family hikes, vacations at the family's timeshare in Greenville and other family events. Kathy and Tom enjoyed the addition of their 7 grandchildren. Kathy enjoyed watching them grow and proud of the young adults they are today. Kathy and Tom enjoyed spending time traveling with her sisters Melissa, Vicky, and Robin. Family was very important to Kathy. Kathy worked tirelessly helping children learn and thrive to be successful in their own educational journey despite their disabilities. She worked with young adults at Kid's Peace, Sweetser, Mount View School and ending her teaching career as the Special Education Director in Guilford. She was predeceased by her parents; She is survived by her husband Thomas W. Neill of Dunedin, FL; daughter Emily Smith and her husband Ricky Jr. of Old Town and son Thomas (TJ) Neill and his wife Alyssa of Bangor. Granddaughters; Sydney, Analeigh, and Eritraea; Grandsons Carter McDonough, Sebastian McGilvray, Carter Smith and McKennon Smith. Sisters; Belinda Robin McComb and her husband Scot of Lincoln, Vicky Morrell and her husband Colby of Carmel, Melissa King and her wife Heidi of Dunedin, Fl., Jill Lovley, and husband Matthew of Astatula, FL Brothers: James Butler Jr. of Bangor and Mark Butler and wife Denise of Hermon. Several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on May 15th, 2024, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home in Newport ME.
